The K-Lite Codec Pack is a free collection of codecs and related tools. Codec is short for Compressor-decompressor. Codecs are needed for encoding and decoding (playing) audio and video. The very user-friendly installation is fully customizable, which means that you can install only those components that you want.

There are three versions of the K-Lite Codec Pack: The Basic version is the smallest and doesn't include a player. The Standard version contains everything what is needed to play all the commonly used formats. The Full version contains even more codecs and also has encoding support.

The text in black applies to all versions, the text in green applies to the Full and Standard versions and the text in red applies to the Full version only.

• Media Player Classic is a full-featured player which has internal decoding support for DVD, MPEG-2, MP2, MP3, AC3 and DTS. It also has internal support for opening Matroska and Ogg containers. Media Player Classic (MPC) is also capable of playing other content if those codecs are installed.
• FFDShow is a DirectShow decoding filter for decoding various audio and video formats like DivX, XviD, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, H.263, H.264, MJPEG, CinePack, TrueMotion, DV, ASV1, ASV2, VCR1, VP3, Huffyuv, Theora, AAC, AC3, DTS, MP2, MP3, MP4 and TrueAudio. When using FFDShow you don't need to install separate decoders for these formats. FFDShow is based on the original DirectShow filter from XviD for decompressing movies with a rich set of video postprocessing filters. For video decompression it uses the libavcodec from the ffmpeg project and to enhance visual quality of low bitrate movies it uses the postprocessing code from mplayer. FFDShow can also be used as a separate postprocessing filter for other decoders. Features of FFDShow include: Fast video decompression using optimized code for MMX (MultiMedia eXtensions), SSE (Streaming SIMD (Single Instruction Multiple Data) Extensions), SSE2 and SSE3 on Intel (Integrated Electronics) Pentium processors and on AMD (Advanced Micro Devices) Athlon processors also 3DNow!, Support for a lot of different codecs, Image postprocessing for higher playback quality, Automatic quality control: it reduces the postprocessing level when the CPU (Central Processing Unit) load is high, Hue, saturation and luminance correction, Sharpening filter, Presets, Support for various subtitle formats and FFDShow is completely free and open source under the restrictions of the GPL (General Public License).
• XviD Decoding is required for playing XviD movies. XviD is currently the most popular format.
• XviD Encoding is required for encoding movies in the XviD format.
• On2 VP7 Decoding 7.0.10.0 is required for playing VP7 movies. These are not very common.
• On2 VP7 Encoding 7.0.10.0 is required for encoding movies in the VP7 format.
• AC3 DirectShow decoder (AC3Filter) is required for playing movies that have an AC3 audio stream.
• AC3 ACM decoder is required for playing movies that have an AC3 audio stream in applications like VirtualDub.
• MusePack DirectShow decoder is required for playing MusePack audio files.
• Monkey's Audio DirectShow decoder 1.00 is required for playing Monkey's audio files (.ape). Monkey's Audio is a lossless (no quality loss) audio compression format.
• WavPack DirectShow decoder (CoreWavPack) 1.1.1 is required for playing WavPack audio files.
• LAME MP3 ACM 3.98 is required for encoding MP3 streams and files.
• DirectVobSub (VSFilter) is a tool for displaying subtitles. Your subtitle files should have the same filename as your video file (for example MovieName.avi, MovieName.idx and MovieName.sub) and should be in the same folder (directory) as your video file. Then the subtitles will automatically be displayed in most players.
• GSpot Codec Information Appliance is a tool that can tell you exactly which codecs are needed to play a certain video file. This is very helpful when you have troubles playing a video file.
• VobSubStrip 0.11 is a tool which can strip languages from VobSub subtitle files (.idx and .sub files).
• GraphStudio is a visual tool for building and testing DirectShow filter graphs.

PuTTY is a free SSH, Telnet and Rlogin client for 32-bit Windows systems. SSH, Telnet and Rlogin are three ways of doing the same thing: logging in to a multi-user computer from another computer, over a network. Multi-user operating systems, such as Unix and VMS, usually present a command-line interface to the user, much like the Command Prompt or MS-DOS Prompt in Windows. The system prints a prompt, and you type commands which the system will obey. Using this type of interface, there is no need for you to be sitting at the same machine you are typing commands to. The commands and responses, can be sent over a network, so you can sit at one computer and give commands to another one, or even to more than one. SSH, Telnet and Rlogin are network protocols that allow you to do this. On the computer you sit at, you run a client, which makes a network connection to the other computer (the server). The network connection carries your keystrokes and commands from the client to the server and carries the server's responses back to you. These protocols can also be used for other types of keyboard-based interactive session. In particular, there are a lot of bulletin boards, talker systems and MUDs (Multi-User Dungeons) which support access using Telnet. There are even a few that support SSH.

Mozilla Firefox is very easy to install: launch Utilu Silent Setup for Mozilla Firefox. From then on everything goes automatically.

If you prefer to manually install Firefox: run the installer, follow the steps and set Mozilla Firefox to be the default browser. From then on always start Firefox to surf the web.

With Utilu Mozilla Firefox Collection it is possible to use multiple standalone versions of Mozilla Firefox at the same time, which is useful for web developers.

Utilu Mozilla Firefox Collection is a utility that contains multiple versions of the free web browser Mozilla Firefox, which are standalone so they can be used at the same time. Mozilla Firefox is a registered trademark of the Mozilla Foundation.

In Utilu Mozilla Firefox Collection you can quickly see how your websites look when rendered using different versions of the Gecko render engine. You can specify the filenames or locations (URLs) to open in all installed versions of Mozilla Firefox. Filenames or URLs that include spaces must be enclosed in quotes ("). Multiple filenames or URLs may be used by separating them by spaces. This will result in multiple tabs being opened.
Entering for example
"C:\Directory\Local File.xhtml" "http://mozilla.com/" "http://utilu.com/"
in the input field will open the local file and the two URLs in three tabs in every installed version of Mozilla Firefox.
You can also specify paths and filenames or URLs as parameters to Utilu Mozilla Firefox Collection (UtiluMFC.exe), in that case the interface won't appear but all versions of Mozilla Firefox will start directly with the specified paths and filenames or URLs opened in tabs.

The version number of each included version of Mozilla Firefox can be found in the window title.

Utilu Mozilla Firefox Collection also includes the Firebug and Web Developer add-ons for all included versions of Mozilla Firefox. These add-ons provide a variety of tools which make troubleshooting websites much easier.

The user-friendly installation is fully customizable, which means that you can install only those components that you want. You can also make an unattended installation.

Utilu Mozilla Firefox Collection fully supports upgrading, so there is no need to uninstall a previous version before installing a newer version: just install the newer version on top of the currently installed version with the same or more components selected.

Specify the parameter -setDefaultBrowser to the installer to make it set Mozilla Firefox as default browser.
